UW Health University Hospital is the flagship academic medical center of UW Health and the primary teaching hospital of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. It is a Level 1 trauma center consistently ranked the top hospital in Wisconsin. The facility has 26 inpatient operating rooms including an intraoperative MRI suite, neurosurgery/interventional-radiology hybrid ORs and a vascular hybrid OR, performing more than 13,500 surgical procedures per year across neurosurgery, cardiothoracic, vascular, orthopedic, transplant, oncology, burn and trauma specialties. Anesthesia is delivered by a care-team model in which UW Department of Anesthesiology faculty medically direct a team of more than 70 clinical anesthetists (CRNAs and CAAs), residents and fellows.
